“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes”
Early Morning of March 26, My family and I drove off to NAIA to catch Delta Airlines Flight from Manila to Los Angeles with a stop over in Narita-Tokyo, Although they were using B747 that can accommodate 400+ passengers it was still full load! As a standby/chance passenger -I didn’t make it. Only my family went through because they paid full fare thus prioritized.
I was left alone in the airport with so much hope that I can still make it through the flight then I’ve just decided to “bother” a friend of mine who live just near the airport then tried to search other possible transit connections in the internet. Irene’s family welcomes me so much that made me somehow forget the disappointments I’ve had that morning. They cooked for me and entertains me until I get well! =)
Next day, March 27, Delta Airlines is Full flight again! My vacation is really short kaya dapat sulitin! But then, I have no choice but to buy a full fare ticket! Shocks! My eyes are literally close while signing my credit card receipt! I can’t believe it cost $466 USD for a one-way-ticket to Narita! (Less than 4hrs away!) Grrr!
In Narita, there are 2 airlines that accept Zed Tickets (Airline staff discounted/reduced fare ticket), which is Korean Air & Delta. Korean Airlines is full and Delta is 2hrs-delayed departure but the passenger load is quite ok. It was 9 ½ hrs more before I reached LAX Airport, the Flight Attendants were friendly even managed to have pictures with them.
In Los Angeles, I immediately received a text message! That I should just take a shuttle bus to the hotel from where they are staying! I’ve been to L.A a lot of times but it’s my 1st time to land in that airport without anyone to pick me up!
Though once again alone and independent, I just think on the positive side that my family trusted me so much to let me search for them! Hahaha! But anyway, they are staying in Katella Ave. in Anaheim which can easily be found coz it’s just 5mins. walk from Disneyland.
After more than 14hrs of travel time, there I was asking around… and find a good deal in primetime shuttle, it was a door-to-door shuttle from the airport that cost $18 USD.
Guess what!? After the long waits, tiring delays, no sleep long haul flights, I still managed to walk around and enjoyed the rides in Disneyland! Like what I’ve said: My vacation is really short kaya dapat sulitin!
I’m alone. Free. Independent. Self-supporting. It’s tough. But, I’m fine… Yes, very tired every single day especially when it’s full flight where I don’t get much time to at least sit during the coarse of the flight but I’m fine. And I love it. I like it when I’m tired. And yes that makes me weird.
I can go wherever I want because of the bidding system where you can bid any of Qatar Airways’ more than 80+ destinations. Yes, I truly have the choice to go elsewhere across Europe, South Africa, Asia & United States that has definitely higher meal allowance & more flying pay than Manila but my choice will still be Manila. And yes that makes me weird.
Most people always have the shocking reaction every time they found out that I have 3-4 Manila Flight every month and still want more. It’s just that, I am truly missing home and flying to Philippines gives me the comfort of being home. And yes that makes me weird.
Things are so different now. I have to do everything on my own, unlike living with my family – When I wake up, someone makes up the bed for me, my breakfast is ready, driver starts the engine, my brother parks the car for me, My clothes are all instantly clean and iron. Go home. My piano teacher comes twice a week, Attending Sunday Mass, Play with my lil’ sis and my puppy, When I get hungry in the middle of the night, food is given to me.
Sarap ng buhay ko dba? Pero hindi dapat ganun. Some might even think that it’s stupid of me to have left my home where I was a “princess”… but, NO. That’s not how life should be.
My mom wasn’t from rich family, neither grew up wealthy but she worked damn hard to give us the life that we have now, and I know it was not easy at all. It was rags to riches story just like in teleseryes!
I want to work hard. I do work hard. I love to work. And right now, this job is one of my greatest challenges in life. This is where, I give the greatest task of my life. And I don’t just mean at work…. I’m pertaining to my life here, alone. My life without yayas, without Mom, without my siblings, without my best friends, and almost everyone I know who’d always spoil me.
I’m used to living within my means now and doing the laundry and the grocery, cooking for myself, washing the dishes, making up my bed, cleaning my toilet and cleaning my room I even associate cleaning as my exercise… I need to keep reminding myself that I’m never alone… never… because God is with me… God is everywhere… His opinion of me matters to me the most… not the world’s opinion of me..
“Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead. The consciousness of loving and being loved brings a warmth and richness to life that nothing else can bring.”
A short 45-minute drive from the City’s major commercial areas will bring you to the property. We keep coming back to this resort not because of their casino but because of their ambiance, it’s a nice place to relax and unwind. It was located on top of the hill with an open pool overlooking a golf course, Laguna de Bay during daytime and the Metro Manila skyline at nighttime.
Around the facility can be enjoyed various recreation and leisure amenities, such as a charming infinity pool and outdoor Jacuzzi that overlooks serene Laguna de Bay and surrounding mountain ranges, meditation nooks, jogging paths, and kiddie playground for the young ones.

For the adult crowd, the resort offers the world-class Fiesta Casino, open for leisure and gaming needs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Hotel guests can feel right at home in the comfort of the gaming facilities, which are inspired by a fusion of classical Spanish and modern Filipino architecture reminiscent of a remote tropical island paradise.

Planning for a birthday party is never an easy task. There are many things to consider and prepare for and since I’ve been flying a lot and I’m not based in Manila I handed over all the obligations to my sister Alma, besides from being an HRM college professor, she’s also a well-experienced event planner in fact she’s one of the coordinator of my 18th birthday held at Coconut Palace it was the biggest & grandest celebration I ever had!
Some 25 year olds might be thinking that they want their party to be a little more grown-up but I want my party to be close to my personality. Jolly, lively & Happy. So we’ve conceptualized to make my profession as my theme for the party. Flight Attendants, Boarding pass invitations, Airplanes, Check-in Counter, and Baggage Counter – An Airport aura!
It was held in Shangri-la Restaurant at West Ave. QC. The party started around 7:30 pm. It started with a song number “Beautiful Girl” by Jose Mari Chan. (It was a nice classic love song. I really like songs that make me feel serenaded that’s why most of my favorite songs are sung by male artists.) Since I don’t have an escort/partner or whatever you wanna call it, hehe! My 16yrs old brother came to the stage to dance me! “Tawa tuloy ako ng tawa sa stage kasi sabi ko wag na ako isayaw magmumukang JS Prom ang party! Hahaha!”
I actually have no idea what’s in the program so everything is a surprise for me! I felt like a guest to my own party! Hehe! My sister didn’t even bother to tell me at least the sequence of the things that’s going to happen! At one point I was busy table hopping then I’ll just hear the host calling my name and believe it or not I haven’t watch the AVP until it was played during my birthday itself! But credits to Ingrid Cabrido for the well edited video presentation.
After the AVP, another song rendered by the singer/host from Abs-Cbn’s Singing Bee – Christopher Cose, entitled “How did you Know” (I never get tired of listening to this song everyday!) from what I remember, the chinese cuisines main course are already being served at this time.
There’s more… there’s also a game! Mechanics are very easy, You must be able to say “Would you like Chicken or Beef” after drinking a pure calamansi extract! Most of the participants are the 4 pretty attendants during my birthday! They are the one in-charge in the registration/check in counter and lead guests to their seats. (I forgot to thank them during my speech (my apologies) pero super thanks talaga sa efforts. I’ll tell Alma to give you all a hundred score sa exam! Hehe Joke!)
It was all good. Very worth it…I won’t mention any names na to avoid tampuhan, but thanks sa lahat ng pumunta you made it more special than it already was…THANKS for flying with me…
When I was a kid I used to dream of a white Christmas and as flight attendant, I guess I’ve experienced it all. Be it, green, blue or white christmas but no matter how far the distance I have travelled. I will still returned to a place called Home…
I flew to Manila on the 24th of December through a Boeing 777 aircraft as expected we landed earlier than scheduled arrival around 2:30pm but due to the traffic because of the Filmfest Parade that afternoon we’ve reach Diamond Hotel in Roxas Blvd. very late, passed 5pm already.
* These pictures are not yet uploaded in my website because it’s not yet high quality pictures (I just grabbed it from my Mom’s friendster account) I left my memory card back home, but will soon upload it…
I really enjoyed every moment, spent the whole time eating delicious home-cooked meals and sinful desserts! Then we gather around the tree to open our presents, Alma was the one hosting the gift giving while we were simply waiting for our names to be called. Our house is filled with laughter. Then later on made myself busy singing over the course of the evening while my cousins are enjoying their wine in the pool area.
The following day, I flew back to Doha with such a nice crew and supervisor. While my family and cousins flew to Hongkong via Philippine Airline to spent my mom’s birthday and New Year there. I guess that’s the main thing my family and I have in common, we all love to travel!
The capacity of the aircraft that we’ve used has 42 seats in Business Class and 293 seats in Economy but we only have less that a hundred passengers in economy + 5 person in Business class. Very light load! Who wants to travel during Christmas day anyway? Except for business travelers maybe like Ms. Pinky Aquino (Kris Aquino’s sister) is one of our passenger that time, she even gave a greeting card to all the crew and were very nice. After 9hrs travel time I’ve landed in Doha around 12:05 am of December 26, slept then same day pick to Manila again!
Even if my whole family is in Hongkong (Dec27) my friends didn’t make me feel alone. They pick me up in the hotel as soon as I arrived then went to Mall of Asia, ate in Don Henricos, had an ice cream dessert in White Hat, watch a movie then Starbucks afterwards. Really had a great time! Indeed a Happy day prelude to a New Year!
I’ll be home for Christmas
You can plan on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents on the tree
Christmas Eve will find me
Where the lovelight gleams
I’ll be home for Christmas If only in my dreams
November Roster gave me 4 Manila flights – This month of December I have 3! Yehey! Such a Good News!
I really cried when I saw my December Roster because it’s what I’ve been praying for (Tears of Joy!) – to spend Christmas with my family and fortunately, I have flight to Manila on 24-25th! Just in time for Noche Buena. Further more, I’ll also be in Manila on my Mom’s Birthday on 27-28th! God is so good! I’m so thankful for all the blessings!

For the past 3 years I’ve been spending Christmas in-flight.. Finally, God answered my prayers, I’ll be home for Christmas…
*After 9 hrs flight, more than 30hrs of being awake, no make-up at all, this is me around 1pm…
*….and this is me around 5pm, after 3cups of coffee, after 4hrs of sitting there.
Went to Tony & Jackey Salon in Tomas Morato Branch to have my 2nd digital perm. They charge P3000 pesos for korean hair products in any length of hair and P5000 for L’oreal. The difference is that you can use the korean products if you have healthy, virgin hair. For my hair they recommended L’oreal products because I’ve told them I had a digi-perm last May 2008.
After 9hrs flight from Doha, Immediately went to SM Mall of Asia, to finish off my last session of upper lip laser Hair removal, then from MOA went to Tony & Jackey. After series of washing, putting hair products and digital perm machine. The complete procedure ended after 4hrs! Even if I’ve had 3 cups of coffee, I’m still so sleepy that time but I’m glad there is WiFi atleast there’s something for me to do. After that my family pick me up and had a dinner in Shangri-la Restaurant in West. Ave. Then back to Diamond Hotel for early morning wake up call for tomorrows’ flight. I’m so glad I had 4 Manila flight last November! =) * Dinner time @ Shangri-la with my dear family…
