Fire Fighting Drill II

Published October 26, 2009 by Mrs. Universe Philippines 2020 - Star Villanueva

Major airlines are required by law to provide flight attendants for the safety and security of the traveling public.  Drill scenarios will provide crewmember with the opportunity to merge procedural knowledge with practical skills. Ability to successfully react to different fire situations will enhance level of confidence and to deal with fires in flight.

  * While fighting a fire inside the lavatory mock-up. We have extra equipments to wear such as mask, Gloves, Glasses, have to carry a fire extinguisher and be calm as possible. Imagine if this is real situation!?! Probably, I’ll be the first one panicking! hehe!

*  Next week, we’ll be going to Emirates Aviation Center in Dubai for another recurrent training about ditching and Slide/Raft inflation.

* Taken during our AB-Initio days when we joined the company 3 years ago. October 2006 (See all the photos here) 5 of my batch mates in this picture left already…

  • hi, Star!

funny, we had our fire drill also in school last week of Sept. i think we must be taught of also on dealing with flood since nowadays it has been a normal scenario whenever a typhoon visits our country.

i hope all is well in your end despite of your recent dilemma.

    keep the faith! 🙂

  • Hmmm, training about ‘ditching’? Hehe. That’s one pretty much interesting stuff. Hope you’ll share what’s ‘in it’. This is really the beauty about being a Flight attendant – you got to learn how to swim, fight fire and let the passengers panic first before you start showing signs of fear. Hehe.

By the way, you’re Bloggista.com’s featured blogger of the week. Cheers. 🙂

  • Hi Star,
I remember our fire drill in the store I am currently working in. We did it before the store opens at 10am. Before we ran to the nearest exit, we checked the dressing rooms and register stations first. When the drill was over, the manager announced that somebody was killed in fire at the women’s dresses department because the associate did not take the stuffed toy with her when she was running to the exit doors :).
